History

One of the first success stories of Svenska Rotor Maskiner is the Ljungström air preheater, invented in the 1920s, that has had a profound role in power stations around the world. In 1995, it was selected as a landmark invention by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

The Ljungström air preheater has made a major contribution to increasing the efficiency of large power stations and is still today one of the products that have reduced carbon emissions to the atmosphere more than anything else.

Since the 1930s, SRM compressor technology has been continually developed and SRM´s former licensees include Atlas Copco, Hitachi, IR, Carrier, York, Trane, Kobelco and many other are industrial leaders today. Virtually all screw compressors in the world are based on SRM´s technology.

Rotors make the world go around – and saves CO2 and money with every twist. With over 900 patents in 30 +  countries through the years, Svenska Rotor Maskiner has shown leadership and innovations in screw rotor machines and energy efficiency for more than 110 years.

THE STORY CONTINUES

Designing products that need to be environmentally friendly is a highly creative task. Thanks to the experience and eye for innovation of our engineers, SRM’s unique rotor technology is in good hands, and under continuous development.

Looking back, we feel comfortable looking forward. Our accumulated knowledge helps us create value for our customers today, as well as the society as a whole. SRM engineers’ knowledge and experience benefit both our core technology and the many systems and application we have built around it.
